One Down

Uptown Magazine: Sheri Joseph Yoga
Week one is over and I keep looking in the mirror to see if there are any changes. Flatter abs, higher butt cheeks, serious guns? Nothing. I know this 40 days thing is about rejuvenation of spirit and mind, yadda yadda yadda, but do I at least get a smokin’ ass out of this thing?

If week one was about getting into the program, week two is about vitality. The questions we need to answer are: What drains my energy? What holds me back? The answer for both of those, for me, is “negativity.” It’s like a really bad habit.

We go around the room on Sunday night and say our names and how we feel at that moment, “I’m Sheri and right now I feel blessed.” It’s true and I decide to make a conscious effort to stick with that through the week, but my blissy attitude gets tested when I find out that IJ has a T-ball game at 5:30. I have to say, I’m a loving and supportive mother and all, but t-ball is like watching grass grow. I call my pal Walker and complain. Walker notices I’m driving the ‘bad attitude bus’ and shuts me down. (“Hey, everyone, get on board with all the bad attitudes up in here!” That’s me. I take the hint; who wants my negative load? Nobody--not even me.) We pack up, go to the game and have a pretty good time.

So, lesson learned. Sometimes you’re the one throwing off your vitality, shutting off the light you could have inside of you.
Can’t wait for the diet portion of the 40-Day plan this week. Here’s a hint: I bought some Beano.
